“I CAN’T!”

I can’t do it by myself mommy.

I can’t do it without your help daddy.

I can’t do this homework.

I can’t finish this paper.

I can’t get keep from dating this person I shouldn’t be dating.

I can’t quit this bad habit.

I can’t quit spending time with the wrong people.

I can’t complete this project.

I can’t keep Preachung if I have to work with these elders any longer.

I can’t stay in Youth Ministry because of these parents.

I can’t quit complaining.

I can’t stand to go to church any more.

I can’t quit being negative.

I can’t quit gossiping.

I can’t do what the Lord wants me to do.

I can’t stay in this marriage because I don’t love this person any more.

I can’t teach my children the way I should.

I can’t endure this terrible event.

I can’t handle my illness anymore.

I can’t go on living having lost my loved one.

I can’t love this person that I’m supposed to love.

I can’t pray.

I can’t study the Word of God.

I can’t forgive.

There are many things in life that we say we can’t do. It is true that there is much that we cannot do by ourselves.

However, as children of God we must remember that we are not alone.

I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” (Philippians 4:13)

“…Jesus said to them, ‘With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”” (Matthew 19:26)

And Jesus said to him, ” ‘If You can?’ All things are possible to him who believes.”” (Mark 9:23)

And He was saying, “Abba! Father! All things are possible for You…” (Mark 14:36)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding.  In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Dear Father in Heaven, help us to believe that all things are possible with You. Help us dear God not to give up. Help us to believe in Your power. Help us to put our trust in completely in You. In the Name of Jesus we pray, amen.

  1. Thanks for the reminder Jeff that it is with God that “I can.”"

  2. Could you post that monthly as a reminder. I need that on my mind always.

  3. Yes we can, guided by the Spirit…”that the man of God may be complete, furnished completely unto every good work.”

  4. You’ve just expressed many reasons why I believe that our Lord wants us to assemble and glorify Him because at the same time we are to edify and encourage each other. However, it can be more than when we gather on Sunday and/or Wednesday, and for women on Tuesday.
Our Care Groups are about caring, praying for each other, hugging, showing love in so many different ways.
The Apostle Paul did NOT say, “I can do a few things, some things, ______” and the sentence did NOT end there because “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” Christ also will strengthen you, and even you, and that person who hasn’t been to worship in awhile can repent and Christ will also strengthen him/her.
Satan knows just which “buttons” to push with me and you and when to push that button(s). We must put on the whole armor, not just our “favorite” piece or most of the armor. WHY do we think that Satan will not tempt us when he tempted our Lord & Savior?
    “Iron sharpens iron.”
Even those in their 90′s realize how important it is to be in the Word, in prayer and fellowship. Faithfulness is vital to our growth.
Thanks, Jeff, for challenging all of us.
