Nice try ... novices :)
Nice try to the ten or so of you who sent in the Augusta Road in Greenville, SC opening and the hiring of Neil Richey at Piedmont Road in Marrietta, but the scoop belongs to Jonathan Jenkins. He sent me the probability before anyone else. A confirmation scoop has to go to...drum roll please....Neil himself. So with the bit of news, the Augusta Road pulpit will be looking. Neil will leave in December. The church there has been good to him and he is not leaving unhappy. He’s been there about 5 years. Augusta Road has about 170-200 on Sunday’s and still appears to have open doors for positive growth. By the way, Neil will also get to help with the Georgia School of Preaching and Biblical Studies.
Speaking of scooping yourself. Matthew Morine told me a few weeks ago that when he made his announcement he wanted to scoop himself. So he gets the “scoopy”. Matthew will be moving to Castlerock, CO to work with a mission work there. He leaves a work he has loved. The church has grown in the small town of Waynesboro and wants to continue. They have about 180 a Sunday (and if you want another story for another day, I could tell you about how my son was born in Waynesboro, even though we lived 75-100 miles away) :).
Scoop #3 - I had lunch yesterday with a member of the Eastside congregation in Terre Haute, IN and learned they are looking. It is a church of about 250 folks and the former minister there has retired. Contact: JBG003@AOL.COM or call (812) 877-2150. They want to hear from you.
Finally today the Central church in Benton, KY is looking for a new man. Their minister and the elders came to a mutual decision it was time to part ways. It appears nobody is mad or anything but just thought it was time to try something different. Contact Paul Morrow at ISELLBOOKS@aol.com for details.
Good scooping everybody. Keep ‘em coming. If you think you know of one not posted, you might read back through but then let me know if you don’t see it. Thanks. Have a super week.
One more thing. You might go to http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=292369331 and subscribe (free) to the new podcast called iPreach that Adam Faughn and I are producing. Let me know if you want to know more.
Hope you don’t mind that I have a little fun here.
