Lectureship Poll - a little fun

OK. We all know that the guy on the front of the Lectureship program (see above) surely isn’t “raising his hands” in song or prayer or praise - that would be outlawed in many places (you know that is tongue in cheek). So what is he doing. I already have two or three possible answers, but I want to hear yours. The best answer gets a free...well, I’ll come up with something.
