Books

From time to time a younger preacher will ask me what books I would most recommend for preachers to read.  As a matter of fact, an outstanding young preacher who I have a world of respect for, asked me today if I would mind compiling a list of must reads for preachers.  I am working on that and when it is complete will post it here for anyone who might be interested.

In the mean time please allow me to tell you about an exciting new book that is hot off the press.  The title of the book is, “ A Common Bond” It was compiled, written, and published by Paula Harrrington. Paula is a wonderful Christian sister who lives in Calvert City, Kentucky. She has also authored a couple of other very good books that you can learn about through her website here: www.paulaharrington71.blogspot.com.

Paula selected thirty preachers of varying ages and asked each of them to answer a series of questions about preaching.  It was an honor for me to be included in this project.  As I read through the book this recently I was so thankful for the finished project. Paula asked me to be a part of her book blog tour by saying something about it on my blog.

When you read the book you will laugh, you will cry, you will be amazed, you will be challenged to be a better Christian, you will grow in your appreciation for preachers, you will grow, and if you are a preacher you will be reminded of how blessed you are to be a preacher.

Paula has rendered a tremendous service to Christians everywhere by publishing this book. If you are a preacher, married to a preacher, the parent of a preacher, the friend of a preacher, or if you just happen to like preachers you will want to read this book

You can order the book from this link: https://www.lulu.com/commerce/index.php?fBuyContent=9597087. You can purchase a hard copy for $8.88 or the electronic version for .99.  I strongly encourage all preachers to read it.

BIBLE LANDS TOUR UPDATE:

This week Steve Bailey and I met with brother Hulin Fowler from Fowler Tours about our trip to the Bible Lands. We confirmed the dates for the trip to be June 12-22, 2012.  The cost will be somewhere around $3750.00-4000.00 per person.  This cost includes airfare from Dallas, all hotel rooms, two meals a day, and all coach fares for the tour bus.  The only add-ons will be extra meals, spending money, and a small amount (around $125.00) which will be added to the final bill to cover the tips to guides, drivers, hotel staffs, etc.

Brochures with Reservation Forms will be available sometime in July of this year. We will also know the final cost at that time.  We anticipate somewhere around forty people joining us.  If you have any questions about the trip or if I can be of help to you in any way please feel free to contact me.  Steve and I would love to have you make this life-changing trip with us!

Dear Father in Heaven, thank You so much for all that you continually do for us. Help us Lord to be thankful servants. Help us dear God to love You more and to love those around us more. We are so thankful for Your love for us and for the many ways that love is manifest in our lives.  In the Name of our Savior we pray, Amen.
