Monday

Monday is almost over. The Carpenters sung it well: “Rainy days and Mondays always get me down.” We all have “Mondays” in our lives. For ministers those Monday days seem to follow tough Sundays. As I write this I’m on a deadline, in just a few minutes it won’t be Monday anymore and I’m struck that the reality of that fact.

I don’t know if your Monday is because of a difficult member you interacted with, a delicate text you dealt with, a discouraging environment you live in, an impending sense of doom that invades your peace, a devastating piece of news that has hurt your life, a disappointing event you had great hope for, a dark dilemma that seems to have no simple answer, or some other something that has made your Monday a Monday indeed, I want to assure you the clock is ticking and Monday will soon be over. In an immediate sense it’ll be over in a few hours and you’ll be given a new day. In the grander sense all of our Mondays will one day be gone and give way to a Mondayless Eternity!

In the meantime, pray, grow, equip, learn, think clearly and make the most of whatever Monday you find yourself in. It’s Monday but an eternal Sunday is on it’s way! May God bless you through each struggle you encounter.
