We all have them
We all have them. Some of us have carried them around most of our lives, others, it seems inherited them, and some of us picked them up along the way as the result of a hurt, or a study, or a debate that went too far. Some of us are blessed enough that are surrounded by good folks who model grace and improvement over time and we get them put where they belong - under control. For others it’s a struggle that seems to resurface over and over.
But we all have them.
Issues.
For some of us it’s a hobby horse from which we can’t seem to dismount, for others it’s a lurking jealousy that torments the corners of our mind, not a few seem to end up chasing after newness and wind up doing regretted harm, for many it’s a lingering sin that keeps popping up and bringing us down.
But we all have them.
Ultimately all we can do is wrestle with them, confess them, struggle with them, trust God’s Grace and strive to grow and not be overcome by them. One more thing: how about if those of us in ministry realize that everyone else has them too, and not just the people in the pew, but your fellow guys who stand behind pulpits, and give them the grace we’d want from them and the support they deserve as a brother. I bet that’d make the whole brotherhood a better place to be.
