The results are in and it is …
You have too. You’ve made a few good decisions in your life. You may be worn out from a full day like mine was, or beat down by a difficult work or person, or just down with the Sunday night blues. But I want to remind you that you’ve made some good decisions. Yeah, I know you’ve made some you regret and wish you would get a do-over on we all have. But you’ve also made some good ones. They led you to the Lord, to His Family, to salvation, to a life invested in God and good, to teaching and preaching His Word.
I’m thankful for every good decision and regret each poor one. I’ve made some good ones, to live for the Lord, to preach His Word, asking my Melanie to be my wife, accepting an offer to preach in Hamilton, at Granny White, and at Spring Meadows. But I am not where I am in life because of anything I can glory in. If it was me on the scale of good decision -vs- poor ones I’d have broken the scales with incompetent mistakes. And, yes, you’ve made some great decisions too, but you are not where you are in the good places in your life because of those decisions.
It is grace! The results are in and it is…grace. If it was all about my decisions I would not be winning in life. Yes, I’ve made some good ones BUT most is just grace. Born in US, in a time of great technology and comfortable wealth, a father who loved the Lord, and a mother who did too, a Savior who loved me, congregations that had some great people who were examples. None of that was my wisdom. It’s mostly just grace. Yes, the preaching of grace can be abused but it is just as much an abuse of grace to ignore it, deny it, minimize it. And I am tired today, but I am thankful. To all of us who preach, take a few minutes 4youR Monday and be thankful for the Grace of God realized in your life.
