Spend plenty of time in prayer and in the Word so that we can continue growing spiritually
If you’ve been preaching very long, you’ve probably had someone tell you at some point that any one or all of these tasks should be a priority in your life.
No wonder so many of our good men have burned out or decided they can’t handle this work anymore. Is there anything we can do to help ourselves and one another?
At the risk of sounding simplistic, I’d like to make a suggestion that none of the aforementioned lists is the most important thing that we should be focused on as ministers
Number one on our list should always be to live a life that glorifies God. What if we made that our top priority? What if glorifying God was the driving force behind every decision we make and every task we undertake this week?
“Worthy are you, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for You created all things, and by Your will they existed and were created.”
“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
“Not to us, O Lord, not to us, but to Your name give glory, for the sake of Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness!”
