Spend Time With the Gatekeeper

I have a good friend who is a part of our church family who is a salesman. Every week when we are in town, we enjoy breakfast at our favorite local establishment.  It’s one of the highlights of my week each time we get together.

We laugh a lot and have a great time. We talk about our work, our families, and about what is going on in the world. My friend has been very successful in his career and he is nearing retirement. I asked him recently what he believed was the key to being successful.

He quickly said, “Building relationships.” I asked if he meant getting to know the owner or manager of the business. He said, "It’s more important to get to know the gatekeepers." I asked him to explain. He said the gatekeepers make the decisions about who gets to spend time with the big guys, so you have to spend time with the gatekeeper.

It’s the same with those of us who preach. The only way for us to get to God is through the Gatekeeper. (John 14:6) We are promised that we can come before the Father’s Throne at any time because we have a great High Priest (the Gatekeeper) who has passed through the heavens and sits at the right hand of God.

If you are struggling in your work, with your relationships, even in your spiritual walk, it might help you to spend some extra time this week with the Gatekeeper. He not only holds the keys to Heaven; He talks to the Father about us and for us.

The more we know the Gatekeeper, the less likely we are to grow weary to the point of quitting.

May God bless you in every effort for Him this week. We love you and we are thankful that you are leading many around you to the Gatekeeper.
