We Are with Him!

Hugh Freeze told the story of how as a high school coach he worked with Michael Oher. You may remember the football player from the Blind Side. To repay him Oher invited Coach Freeze to Lambeau Field to watch the Packers play, which happened to be a dream of Coach Freeze’s.

Coach Freeze said they went to get on a private plane and one of the security men stopped him, but Mike said, “He is with me.” They landed and went to the team hotel where another security man stopped Coach Freeze and Michael said, “He is with me.” He said they went to the stadium for the game and he went into the player’s locker room, but a security guard stopped him, and Michael said, “He is with me.” They got to go out on the field during the warmups, but a security guard stopped him, and Michael Oher said, “He is with me.”

Coach Freeze said the only thing he had to offer to get on the plane, into the hotel, the locker room, and on that field was that he was with Michael.

My dear Preaching brothers, I hope you don’t ever forget that as long as we are preaching and doing the work of ministry, we are with Him.

When life throws us a curve, a punch in the gut, a difficult season, or a moment of trial, we are with Him.

When people are critical of us, unkind to our family, or even mean to us, we are with Him.

When we are afraid we might lose our job, face the ire of a rogue church leader or church member, we are with Him.

When we feel like we don’t have a lot to offer but we remain faithful, we can rest with the assurance that we are with Him. Every time you do His work, preach His Word, and live out His Will in your life, you are with Him.

“The Lord is on my side; I will not fear. What can man do to me?”
