It's a Journey
The Word of God describes the journey of our life as walking, running, fighting, growing, and pressing on. There are other terms as well that describe and define the journey we are traveling.
At times, the road seems smooth and easy. For sure, at other times there will be potholes and speed bumps along the path. There will be seasons that we may feel as if we’ve slammed into an impenetrable brick wall the size of Texas!
We may encounter moments on the journey when we feel as though we are traveling in the dark. We may even wonder if we’ve lost our way. There are mountains to climb, rivers to forge, and valleys through which we must pass.
We will see people, some fellow preachers along the route who crash and burn. During the most difficult and challenging days, we may be tempted to join them.
Perhaps a couple of reminders if you are enduring one of those days now. First, we are not the first to pass this way. Our Lord & Master has endured the pain of the earthly journey. He suffered in ways that we cannot imagine, yet He finished the race. As well, many men of God have walked this path and they have overcome. We can be victorious in life.
Secondly, WHATEVER we encounter as we journey through this life is temporary. It is true. We are pilgrims here. This is not our eternal Home. There are better days ahead. Also, the highway to Heaven is lined with love, grace, encouragement, support, prayers, and strength.
If you feel weary and worn today, don’t lose your footing. Stay strong. Other fellow strugglers will help ease your load. Let’s journey together, dear brothers.
