That'll Leave A Mark

It was an epic collision! After they both got up and were overall OK I heard someone use that current buzz phrase: “Well, that’ll leave a mark.” And a spark went through my mind, ministry will leave a mark.

When you are criticized by those who do not understand the work you do.

That’ll leave a mark.

When your family has to sacrifice because you don’t make as much as the other families on your block.

That’ll leave a mark.

When you take a loss rather than demand your way, because you want what is best for the church more than you want your way.

That’ll leave a mark.

When you study for hours and the sermon falls short of your desire.

That’ll leave a mark.

When your heart hurts because of your own mistakes, shortcomings, or confidence.

That’ll leave a mark.

When one of the little boys in the church dresses up as you are Halloween because they want to be like you.

That’ll leave a mark.

When you sit with the family of a dying loved one and their tears wet your collar.

That’ll leave a mark.

When you counsel a young couple struggling to stay together.

That’ll leave a mark.

When the light shines through and a life is changed from allegiance to satan to commitment to the Lord because, at least to some degree of your teaching or example.

That’ll leave a mark.

But you, too, as you pour your focus into the lives of others, will leave a mark in this world as one who determined for their life to count. As you serve, and love, and live faithfully, and commit yourself to God’s people, and focus on Jesus, and give of your energy. That will leave a mark.

It will not always be easy, but it will be worth it. Go forth and leave a mark!
