It happens every week. Monday comes whether we’re ready for it or not. As much time as we preachers spend preparing for Sundays, we seldom prepare for Monday. How could we even begin to prepare for Monday, anyway?
I’ve known a lot of preachers through the years who have taken Monday as their off day, just to recuperate, renew, and refresh themselves. Some have a mental or emotional hangover from Sunday. But Mondays are real, and sometimes they can be tough.
We put every bit of energy and enthusiasm we have into Sunday, as well as our whole heart. Then it’s over. We wonder if we did our best for God. We wonder if we were helpful and encouraging to God’s Family. We may feel physically, emotionally, and mentally drained.
Welcome to Monday. It’s the day we review what happened on Sunday. The day we remember where we misspoke or forgot. The day we remember the one person who was critical that seems to be much larger than the larger group who were encouraging.
In spite of the difficulty that can come on Monday, there are also many new exciting opportunities. We can contact those good people who visited us for the first time this week. We can extend our appreciation to those who participated and did their best during our assemblies.
We can answer correspondence from people who were kind to us on Sunday. We can thank God for the beginning of another week. And, oh yes, the big one. We are blessed to begin working on new sermons, new series’, new ideas to strengthen and build up the Body. We can praise God for the numerous blessings of being one of His preachers.
May God bless you, dear brothers, on this Monday as you continue your involvement in the greatest venture in life. Praise God for Monday!
