It's a slow process

Have you ever set a trap. You know the key, right? It’s patience. You go fishing and toss a line in the water with a worm, a hook, a weight, and a bobber. And then you wait. And wait. And wait. You set up a box one corner balanced on a stick with some bait under it. And then you wait. And wait. And wait.

It is intolerably slow. Until it’s not. When the moment happens it is lightening fast. The hook is set, the box falls - and the prey is trapped. It’s slow till it’s fast.

2 Timothy 2:26 refers to “the snare of the devil.” Strong’s defines “snare, παγίς pagís, pag-ece’” as "a trap (as fastened by a noose or notch); figuratively, a trick or statagem (temptation):—snare.”

The evil one sets traps for all of God’s children. I can only imagine that if he can snare one of God’s Special Servants it finds a special place on his trophy wall. He has a trap for you too. The strange thing is that odds are you know what that trap is. It tempts you. Allures you. Entices you. It may be fame, having your ego stroked. It could be money, stuff, things, the possession of more makes you feel fulfilled. It might be women, inappropriate suggestions, texting, thoughts.

Regardless, it’s a slow process and satan is patient. It’s slow, until it’s not. Like a lion, he stalks you, prowling for your weakness (1 Peter 5:8-9).

It’s intolerably slow until it is fast! The snares of the devil. He has his tricks (Ephesians 6:11). My friend, beware. Never forget we are human. Never forget much of the good we have done can be wiped away in a heartbeat, in a moment, in a snare. It’s a slow process, until it’s not. If you need us let us know. We love you. Hang in there. Let’s fight the evil one together.
