Stuck
Stuck
I’m stuck in an airport, again. It seems like it happens more frequently these days. This time it’s in Little Rock, following a wonderful weekend with a great Church, discussing Grief, Renewal, Grace, and Hope.
It’s interesting to watch different reactions when they announced for the third time today that our flight is being delayed because of weather. Some people seem to be angry at the gate agent, as if she caused the issue. One man was yelling at her to fix this problem! Some seem to be heart-broken because they are going to miss a connecting flight. Others seem to sigh as if resigned to the fact that this is inevitably going to happen again. One group of folks is laughing and enjoying life as to say this is a minor irritation, but we will not allow it to ruin our lives. It would be easy to to become discouraged and to feel sorry for one’s self because of the circumstance we have been dealt.
The truth is life happens to all of us. There are days like this for preachers as well. It might be that something happens due to things that are completely out of our control. Maybe it’s something someone has done or said to you. Perhaps it is a result of an overbearing leader. It could be due to a mistake or misjudgment that we have made.
So what do we do? We can get angry and take it out on others, even those who are closest to us. We can decide that we will never “fly this airline” again! We can become depressed and think about throwing in the towel. We can choose to go on with our work for the Lord and allow the irritation to not ruin our day or our lives.
If you feel stuck today (grounded), please remember that situation in this life is temporary. As long as we remain faithful to our Lord, better days are ahead. Know that there are others who care deeply for you and who are praying for you that you will fly to new heights. Let’s make up our mind to keep living for God and continue to glorify Him in our Kingdom work!
