Thank you for the sermons you preached on Sunday. Thank you for sharing the unsearchable riches of Christ, perhaps even through pain, tears, heartache, and stress. Thank you for the time you will spend this week preparing sermons. Thank you for the hours that you will dive deep into God’s Word laboring over the sermons you will preach.
Thank you for the meetings you will sit through concerning the work of the church, even when those meetings might be dull or you might wonder what good can this bring. Thank you for the visits you will make this week. Visits to the hospital, visits in the homes of senior members, visits to people who have moved into your community, and visits with members who are hurting.
Thank you for the time you will spend with people who will drop by the office, just to chat, because they are certain that you don’t have much to do. ARGH! After all, you only work two days a week. DOUBLE ARGH!!
Thank you for being a counselor, a comforter, a corrector, a cab driver, a consoler, a chance-taker, a class act, and a Christian. Thank you for your patience, your kindness, your humility, your Christ-likeness, and your love.
Thank you for the time you will spend encouraging your wife and your children. Thank you for reminding them that they are more important than other people who demand your time. Thank you for showing your how to love their families.
Thank you for not quitting when times are tough. Thank you for hanging in there and persevering. Thank you for your faithfulness to our Lord. Thank you for your love for the Lord, His Church, His Word, and his people. Thank you for all you do and most of all for who you are.
