What Are You Learning?

What Are You Learning?

Life is full of constant, challenging, exciting, difficult, delightful, but continuing change. How we respond to that change will to a large measure determine your long term effectiveness. So, what are you learning now?

The last two years have seen historic changes in our lives. A change of schedule, a change of title, a change of routine, a change of week-to-week activity. In what most would call the third quarter of life I’m trying to learn to be a grandfather, a better dad, a better preacher, a minister to ministers, an advisor to leaders, a kinder person, a more present listener. In that second quarter I was trying to learn how to be help people mature in their faith, to write books, to be a better husband, a better dad, a better preacher. In my first quarter I was trying to learn how to preach, how to be a husband and dad, how to help churches grow, how to communicate, how to do ministry.

Four quarters. What are you learning now? What are you learning from your personal study of the Word? What are you learning about the professional aspect of your work? What are you learning from the leaders you have? What are you learning from your mentors? What are you learning in your present work? What are you learning that will make you better for what is next? Keep growing but in every quarter strive to be more like Jesus. Don’t quit learning - and don’t quit.

“We make it our aim to please Him” - 2 Corinthians 5:9.
