Seed-Planters

Every Sunday, those of us who preach the Word of God deal with heavy, heady topics. We often feel burdened to ensure that everything is “covered” and that everything “runs smoothly.” Sometimes, things happen that are completely out of our control.

It is also true that we often question whether or not our sermons are connecting, if people are listening, and if our work is making any difference in the lives of those who assemble together. It can be easy to think that all of this is up to us.

My prayer for you on this Monday is that you will enter this new week knowing that when you spoke the Word of God in love, someone heard you, and their heart was touched. Someone present needed exactly what you said. Someone will walk away a better person who is a little bit closer to Jesus than they were on Saturday.

Often, we are not even aware of who that person might be. It may be a long time or even eternity before it is revealed that you made a difference in someone’s life. Then, there is this to consider. It can take time for what is said to sink into someone’s heart. It may be someone else who adds to what you said that can make a full impact.

Our work is to plant seeds. We must speak the truth of God’s Word in love. It might help us if we remember that God has said that His Word will not return empty, but it will accomplish what HE has intended.

So, dear brother, thank you for planting the seed. Thank you for your preparation and your heart as you spent time with the people of God. May your heart be encouraged as you go about your days this week. Keep serving as God’s seed-planter and know that you are important to Him and to countless others.
