On My Last Nerve!
Anyone who knows me knows I’m a bit of an American Presidents nerd. So, when JD Vance was tapped to run for VP I downloaded his story Hillbilly Elogy. I got about a quarter of the way through it and put it aside. The language was rough, I understand it is what he grew up with and he’s just telling the story true to form, but, it just got old. Fast forward several months and he’s sitting in Blair House and becoming VP. After hearing him a few times, I decided to give it another try. Again, the language is just tough to hear. But his story. My. What a moving story as he told of those who believe in hm and invested in him when there was no compelling reason for them to. I’ll not comment on his politics, but I imagine you’d agree his story is captivating.
And I thought about, YOU! Every week there is that kid. You know, the one from the poor family, the one who has nothing, the one who doesn’t quite fit in. He’s difficult. Edgy. My mom would say rambunctious!
And, at times you wonder. At times you approach the end of your rope. At times you think he’s such a distraction. They probably have made you question your effectiveness more than once. And even made you think about quitting.
I want to thank you. You know, that’s Brad, now leading a powerful ministry. It’s Tracy, a man of God. It’s Chuck, who shepherds God’s People. It’s Jeff a faithful Servant, it’s Christopher, super Youth Minister. In fact, rewind and I bet it was many of you reading this.
God has a way. They may never become Vice-President. But the JD’s in your life will be much much more, they’ll be God’s Faithful Servants.
Thank you. Don’t quit. It’s worth it.
