Better.

To be blunt, we think about you being a better preacher a lot. Now, don’t dare read that and think that we do not think that you are outstanding. We are so proud of what you do and how you spend your life. But we have spent our lives trying to improve. To be more effective at presenting the unsearchable riches of Christ, at trying to grow in the skill of preaching, at trying to learn to persuade men and women to come to Jesus, at endeavoring to communicate the Christian way of life in a way that engages and enlightens others. It shouldn’t shock you - I mean, we created a whole conference around the concept!

And, truthfully, we want every Gospel Messenger to be better. We want the very best we know to be better. This is heaven or hell we are talking about; excellence is a must! Our best for the Master is all we should strive for—to keep learning, improving, and growing. 

I trust that is your desire, too. So, this week, I have a quick suggestion. Make a note on your reminder app, your “tickler,” calendar, or just your to-do list to pray every morning at x:00 (when you typically wake up): 

“God, I thank You for the life-giving, joy-producing, hope-filled, Good News of Jesus Christ. I wan to be better at preaching that Gospel News. Please, help me to practice those things that will help me get better at this all important part of the work in Your Kingdom. In Jesus Name, AMEN.”
