It’s scooping time in Tennessee...

...Cause it’s obviously not football time here :). This week we have several updates:

First some big news: Centerville announced Sunday that they have hired Brian McAlister of Jackson, MO. This scoop would have to go to several people but I think the first to confirm it was Wes Hazel. Congrats Wes on your first scoop, it was a big one.

Down Allie’bama way Johnny Hobbie has left the Riverchase work after a good long youth ministry there. Riverchase is a pretty neat place - it was a planned church plant by the old Central church in Birmingham back in the late 70’s I believe. They are a church of about 700 and have a very good youth program. Johnny is beginning his first pulpit work in Camden, AR at the Maul Road church. Keep him in your prayers.

This big scoop from Doug Yates: The Sunset Church of Christ in Miami, Florida is looking for a pulpit minister.  The Sunset congregation is a result of a merge that took place back in the mid 80’s (Central Church of Christ and the South Miami Church of Christ).  My dad’s cousin, Ancil worked there early on and the work continues to show a lot of potential.  The contact is an elder named Bob Perkins.  His e-mail address is: bnbperkins@bellsouth.net.  Doug says that it would be a plus if you know Spanish or if you are willing to learn.  And Doug has a job description that was sent to me and if anyone would like for me to forward it just send me an email at dlyates@bellsouth.net.

This scoop via David Shannon: The Mesa Church of Christ in Mesa, Arizona is looking to hire a full-time preacher.  They have 6 elders, 16 deacons, and around 500 members, approximately 140 of which are part of the congregation's Spanish-speaking segment which is served by a different preacher.  The role includes preaching, teaching, personal evangelism, counseling, visiting, performing weddings and funerals, administration, preparation of bulletin articles, and regular meetings with elders and staff.  They are looking for “someone who has a degree in Bible, has preached for at least ten years, is married and has children, is doctrinally sound, and whose personal life models devotion to Jesus and his church.”  If interested email your resume to Mesacofc@aol.com.  No phone calls please.  They will contact applicants who they are interested in.

Travis Irwin has begun his work with the Athens church here in Tennessee. If you want to keep up with Travis you can follow him at 321 Cedar Springs Road, Athens, TN 37303, 423 920 3060 (cell).

OK, folks what have I missed. Scoop away.

There’s a big one coming next week. Be sure and listen to iPreach on the links above.
