Guest blogger notes
I want to post a few notes from the pen of my fellow blogger friend Adam Faughn of Nashville. Adam is blogging via his cell phone this week. His regular blogspot is: http://faughnblog.blogspot.com/. Having Adam share his thoughts will keep you from only getting one perspective:
Wednesday, 8:30, Auditorium B
David Baker of Savannah, TN, is beginning a two-part series on discipleship and how churches can devise a focused and simple plan to effectively disciple.
The lecture is based upon "Simple Church."
I listened to David Baker's lecture dealing with discipleship. This was the first in a two-part series and today basically laid the foundation. Baker referenced "Simple Church" often. Leah and I both think this is a book I need to read and incorporate.
One of my favorite things David did was remind us that we must do what God requires (worship) as well as we can, then focus on programs, all under the mission of the congregation.
At 9:30, I attended Dan Winkler's second lecture of the week, which focused on preaching through Hebrews. Dan is a master expositor, and I always learn so much and I'm even more motivated to peach as best I can.
Today's lecture deals with Jesus as the High Priest. Yesterday, we were led through the first part of Hebrews, which deals with Jesus: the Better Messenger.____

Dan Jenkins, from Palm Beach Lakes, Florida, is beginning a series today discussing Psalm 139.
One of the grand things about this 24-verse Psalm is how it reminds us of many of God's awesome attributes. Brother Jenkins has been assigned verses 1-12, wherein we learn more of God's omniscience. Specifically, we are being reminded that God knows us personally because He is everywhere, knows us, and He cares.
I love hearing brother Dan speak because his lectures are deeply grounded in the Bible. He does a masterful job of comparing the text under consideration with texts throughout the pages of God's Book.
