A plethora of…well…stuff!

I’ve got several upcoming blogs I need/want to write but for now I just need to clean out my inbox of “stuff”, you’ll see what I mean.
So I got an add for an event here in middle Tennessee about the 25th Anniversary of a local business. They were looking to bring in a crowd. The ad proclaimed it: “Come one Come All! Bring all your friends and family! It is going to be a fun free night!”
I’m pretty sure I got what they meant but what I read was it was going to be a night free from any fun. We’ve all spent nights like that haven’t we. I know some churches the are “fun free” - not that church is about fun (there I go with the disclaimers) BUT if there is anywhere I can have real, clean, “wholesome” fun it ought to be with my church Family. Seems some places major in trying to KEEP it FROM being any fun at all and that just doesn’t sound like the description of Christ who “came enjoying life”.
Preaching friend in Lewisburg, Rick Rolin has written a very needed little book titled “Five Steps to Blessed Assurance”. The mentality behind the book is the large number of seemingly very faithful, active Christians who when asked if they are going to heaven answer: “I hope so” or “I’m not sure”. This is juxtaposition to the strong writings in 1 John. If you want copies of the book which is nicely done contact Rick at www.rickrolin.com or rrolin@westvue.org The book is simple to understand and not a difficult read in any way.
A little Spring Hill ad: My preaching friend David Swanger has a house for rent in Spring Hill. It is at 803 Bell Drive. He completely redone the house and is wanting to rent if for $900 a month but to a quality renter he might negotiate. Let me know if you want to know more or you can e-him at swangerdavid@hotmail.com
Watch for a HUGE announcement on August 30...this is big!!!
Alan Highers asked me to let you know about a sermon that Freed-Hardeman president Joe Wiley preached at the Henderson church some time back: Go to hendersoncoc.com, click on media, and go to Sunday morning, July 4. He also mentioned the big area-wide meeting in the Coliseum at Corinth, August 22-24. He will be doing the preaching and the services begin at 7 each evening. They are hoping for more than a thousand each night.
This is one of those rather surreal things to me: Celine Sparks wrote an extremely delightful book “Because I Said So”. She graciously asked me to review it and consider writing a “blurb” for the cover. That is just so strange that I’m doing that - this is my third book to write something for the cover. You’ll laugh you head off reading Celine’s book. I encourage you to get one. By the way, SM’ers, we are working on getting her to do a book signing and reading with us sometime in October.
Surviving the storm put on by channel 4 here in middle Tennessee is coming to Spring Meadows. We’ll get a ton of free publicity out of it. I pray that many people who know nothing of our existence will learn of the work here and we will have opportunities from that. They will also do their broadcast live from our building on September 30. This should be an awesome open door.
While talking about big days I need to mention that on September 12 we will have a HUGE DAY at SM. I can hardly wait...if you are anywhere near and can come - please do.
More later!
