brain dump

I like occasional brain dumps on my blog. Stuff seems to clutter so here goes:

I will be preaching this weekend in Vero Beach, Florida this weekend. Should be preaching 3 or 4 times. This is the church where my dear friend Tracy Moore and his family work.  Tracy and I go way back. In fact we go back before either of us were born.  Tracy’s granddad and my dad were very close friends when dad preached in Hamilton from 1960-66. He is who got dad to jogging before jogging was cool.  When I moved to Hamilton in 1997 he was in the youth group. I remember the summer that his mom sent him to me to try to talk him out of preaching :) - not really but I think she wanted to make sure he had a clue what was involved in it in reality.  Then he moved to Nashville and we got to spend some times together. So we’re been close a long time. I look forward to being with the whole Moore clan this weekend.

Tomorrow is iPreach’s annual FHU preview show. It’s gotten to be a lot of fun. We had Billy Smith, Andrew Phillips and Doug Burleson on the first year we did it. Last year we had Marlin Connelly and Clarence Deloach with us. This year we have David Lipe, Dan Jenkins and (hopefully) Alan Highers for the preview. Adam and I will toss out a question or two but you ought to listen just to enjoy it!  We start at 10CST on talkshoe.com (search for iPreach) or on TheEquipNetwork.com.  You’ll be glad you joined us!

I don’t hawk software and have nothing to gain here but one of my New Year’s commitments is not to text when I drive (it’s dangerous and illegal).  I ran across through a friend a little program called HeyTell. It is available on either the iPhone or Android based phones.  It is like “text talking”.  You ought to look at it. You can find me as Dale Jenkins.

I mentioned sometime back that I am planning on leading a trip to Israel for 2012 with Dan Chambers.  We are at a point where we’re ready to give some dates. We are looking at March 12-22, 2012.  The cost is gonna land somewhere around $4000. If you are interested in going with us on this trip of a lifetime to the Bible lands or want to know more about the trip send me an email: dale@edge.net.

By the way, the one and only Jonathan Seamon will preach at SM Sunday! You don’t want to miss one of the finest church workers I have ever known!

To quote Steve Jobs - “One more thing”. I appreciate that so many of you love me and express it but more than that I am thankful for your prayers.  For those of you not at Spring Meadows you need to know that I’m still struggling with dad’s death.  I miss him so very much. Hardly an hour goes by that I don’t think about him or something he said or did or that I wish I’d asked him (like, “dad, what’d it feel like when your dad died?”) or talked with him about.  I am fine...really.  I still laugh and love and believe and preach and strive to serve. To most looking in I am no different than I have always been ... but life is different without my two parents. I feel it. I see it in my study and my interaction with others. I feel it in my energy level. I feel it in my "connectedness" levels. I see it in my disciplines.   I know I have been blessed.
