Better! info...

A month ago we announced “Better” and now it is time for some detailed information: What?

Back last fall over lunch Rusty Pettus and Barry Throneberry posed the question that Rusty had first asked via text message a couple of days before: “Who are some guys who are excellent in various ‘parts’ of preaching? Who is best in our brotherhood at text, illustrating, etc.?”  Then and over the next several days I couldn’t get it out of my mind. The word "Better" kept coming to my mind. "Better" - I want to be better. I know I will never be the very best but I do want to improve and be the best I can be.  I hope that is true of you if you've been preaching 5 years or 50!

Where?

Where does a guy who is already preaching go in our brotherhood to learn to be better at the “craft” of preaching?  This was not a slam on lectures, conferences, seminars, or our colleges and universities.  There are a lot of venues where we can improve the art of content but where does a guy go if he wants to improve in the “art of preaching.”  If that phrase offends you I am sincerely sorry but there is an art to it. I preach, I want to learn how to DO that better.

Why? Why would you charge? Well, the answer is pretty simple. I’m bringing in 10 of the very best guys I know - flying a few of them in. I plan on paying them for the time and considerable effort they will share with us.  There are many incidentals.  And this is not being put on by a congregation or college - the money paid will pay for the expenses.  Any left over will go to publishing and expenses for The Jenkins Institute.  But why $119? Well, because I’m not sure.  As best I can budget this will cost about $5000 to put on - you want to foot that bill - let me know we'll remove the price. If we have 50 guys at $119 that will pay for the event with a little cushion.  But here is what I have done: I have lowered the price to $99 effective immediately (If you've already paid - the $20 will be refunded you) Under "Enter Promotional Code" type the word "NOW."   But let me put it simple here: Right now we have 11 people signed up. We need at least 50 by April 1.  If we get 50 we’ll go forward. If not we’ll cancel the event and refund the money paid.

How?

The guys below will not be preaching to us. They will be telling us "HOW" they do what they do. They are humble men but they have a skill and are willing to share...
