Free and powerful

Most of us who are ministers are delighted to just strive at being a faithful servant in the Kingdom and feel honored to so do. Some of us get to be a part of some really neat things and “borrow” from the genius work of others (a “bus ministry” in the mid-70’s, V.B.S.’s in the 50’s). And then a handful strike gold now and then with a concept, method or approach that “takes off” (i.e. Jule Miller).  Then every once in a while a prodigy comes along and seems to strike gold over and over. Well, Scott Bond and the talented team he assembled have hit on something huge. I’ve commented on it before but with the “official launch” this coming Wednesday I thought I’d give you an update AND a last minute opportunity to learn about this free resource. The #HASHTAG youth series is an amazing concept.  Scott assembled a group of 12 excellent youth guys to put together a video summer series for congregations. http://hashtagyouthseries.com/ The video and editing work by Daniel Howell is excellent. There are study guides to go with each lesson.  You can get t-shirts, slap bands, posters and much more. Each week there is a leader resource packet. The new video is posted on YouTube and Vimeo each Monday to give you plenty of time to download it.

Now for some stats. As of last night there were 106 churches participating, in 25 states, nine countries and 2952 teens signed up! Originally we had hoped that 10-15 congregations would be a part.

The desire is to start conversations about Jesus among young people (i.e. #hashtags).  This is not just for big churches. In fact the initial hope was that a few smaller churches who could not afford to bring in guys for a summer series or who had a small group and didn’t think they could justify such.  SO, if your congregation only has a handful of folks you ought to sign up and make the most of it. Here’s a preview: http://hashtagyouthseries.com/. Here you can find the speakers bio’s: http://hashtagyouthseries.com/template-files/page-fullwidth/speakers/.

I love this quote from Scott: “We hope you will join us this summer and help us create conversation around the person, the work, the life, the good news gospel of Jesus Christ.”

Please pray as the “reach” and potential of this effort has just gone over the top! To the glory of God.
