No Title (well, I guess that's a title) - You can help
I met him at a conference in San Diego a few years ago and doubt he even remembers but I’ve followed his blog ever since. I’m sure he’d disagree with me pretty often as I do with him. But each Friday he writes what he called “Friday Stream of Consciousness.” Some might say it’s presumptuous, but not even knowing the guy I find it interesting and it often makes me think. Most of us bloggers have these thoughts that aren’t really posts that we don’t know what to do with them. For the last year or so most every week I’ve wished I had something like that. So today I’m starting it. I haven’t got a name for it yet. Post suggestions below - and enjoy. Or delete. Either is fine. So here are my thoughts this week...
I’m not much of a movie guy I’ve seen 3 in the last three years but two of those have been in the last two months: I went to see les misérables Friday...I must admit I cried like a baby. First off, as one of my aunts says “Jenkins men cry.” I was set up - Right at 30 years ago I stole a sermon from Harold Hazelip called “Dream the Impossible Dream” - it’s OK, he’s forgiven me.
Most powerful scene is the forgiveness scene when ... Well, you see it yourself. I don’t think you’d be disappointed.
How do you respond to things you can’t respond to? Some things bug me. A guy “blew my brother up with a post” when he doesn’t know anything at all about my brother. Another guy “blew ‘my’ church up with a post” - if he wants to do church “his way” that’s between him and God but don’t pull others down with you. To call them out is only to acknowledge them or give them voice among those who read what I write and I don’t think they are worth that. And, I’m not angry and I don’t want to be that angry guy but I feel rotten not defending what should be defended.
I’m increasingly reminded of my own hypocrisy and inadequacies. I’ve been a Christian for over 40 years and still struggle with some of the same stuff I struggled with 40 years ago. I suppose satan knows “where to get to me.”
The gym is 3 miles from my house but when it comes to getting there it might as well be in Paris (and I don’t mean Tennessee).
After watching this season I’ve concluded the Titans are only about 22 players short of being a really good team.
The push between learning and doing is huge.
I’ve got three out of state trips this month - all three are huge!
Chick-Fil-A is ‘he bomb but I sometimes wish we had In ‘n Out Burgers in Tennessee.
Have you ever taken a loss over something significant and not complained or gripped or whined BUT instead went on happy and joyfully. If so, congratulations, you are rare and special. And thank you.
While he will probably never make it in the NFL Johnny Manziel, aka Johnny Football, is more exciting to watch than Cam Newton. He’s not half the athlete but that is part of what makes him fun to watch. Newton is a machine!
Alabama - Notre Dame prediction. Alabama 32, Notre Dame 17. I hope I’m wrong, I’d rather it be 70-0.
