Just Be You

Can you still be “you” or are you just someone in the role of preacher’s wife?

Do you just give a pat answer to someone in the lobby, or words that really comes from the heart?

Am I someone with just a position and responsibilities or do you have the heart of a servant?

Much of the position of preacher’s wife you have no control over because it is not like any other businessman’s wife. But we have unique opportunities no one else has. We can connect with those who reach out to us.

So, how much of your heart is in it, are you just faking it until you make it. People can tell if you are happy or not, so you can’t really fake it.  We are called to be an example of a certain kind of servant of God that people take notice of more than others.

Ephesians 4:11-13, says, “So, Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ”.

God has put us in these roles for a reason. He has equipped us with tools no other woman has. We have strength, patience, dignity, tenacity, and longsuffering. We have learned from examples of mighty women we have seen, or from experiences we have lived. God has provided us the means to be who we are even in a position that sometimes seems like we can lose ourselves. Don’t ever pretend to be what you aren’t equipped to be. Don’t ever mail it in, but keep on caring for all those who need more than you. Do the job God has put in front of you because he has given you the heart of a faithful servant like no other.
