Our Identity

Our world is having an identity crisis. I hate the confusing and God-dishonoring messages that our society places upon our young people, especially. We all look to identify with something/someone. This is often the very foundation for social and community groups that form around some unifying person, attribute or activity. We must help our children, grandchildren and all young people within the Lord’s Church know that they have an identity that goes beyond any sport they play or any character trait they embody.

And yet, we as mature women of God are not immune to the whispers of Satan that cause us to question our own identity, purpose and place in daily life within this world. We are not called to boast; but we are called to boldness and confidence in Christ.

So when we are struggling with our own identity crisis, perhaps these verses from an overview of the book of Ephesians will help shift our perspective and help us be renewed in mind as we seek to find our value in Him.

Who I am in Christ (from Ephesians):

I am BLESSED. (1:3-5)

I am REDEEMED. (1:7)

I am FORGIVEN. (1:7)

I have an INHERITANCE. (1:11, 14, 18)

I am SEALED WITH HIS SPIRIT. (1:13, 4:30)

I am LOVED. (2:4, 5:2)

I am ALIVE. (2:5)

I am SAVED. (2:5, 8)

I have a PLACE in HEAVEN. (2:6)

I am HIS WORKMANSHIP, HANDIWORK, MASTERPIECE. (2:10)

I am BROUGHT NEAR TO GOD. (2:13)

I am PART OF A FAMILY. (2:19, 4:16)

I am a DWELLING PLACE FOR GOD. (2:22)

I can BOLDLY and CONFIDENTLY ACCESS GOD. (3:12)

I can LOVE and BE LOVED. (3:17-19)

I am ACCOUNTABLE. (4:1)

I have been GIVEN GRACE. (4:14)

I am given ROOM TO GROW. (4:13-15)

I am STRONG. (6:10)
