A Saturday Evening Prayer for Preachers

Dear Loving Father,

Tomorrow all around the world, Your men will stand in front of Your people to proclaim your Truth. As we stand in Your presence may we never forget that we are speaking Your Word and not ours. May we always remember that as we speak Your Word, we are not alone. We thank You for the promise that You will be with us as we preach Your Word.

Father, many of us will stand to preach with fear in our hearts. Fear that we are not prepared. Fear that because of what we are, we have no right to preach. Fear that we will say the wrong thing. Fear that what we say will fall on deaf ears and hard hearts.

Dear God, we beg You to calm those fears, as well as our hearts and our souls, as we remember that what we are doing is not about us, but always about You. Please forgive us when we have made it about us. Help us to stand behind the cross and find our strength in You.

In Jesus Name We Pray,

Amen
