OK: Owasso Church of Christ is looking for a prison minister. Some descriptions just have to be posted “as is.” And this is one of those unique rare positions: "What are we looking for in a new prison minister? We are looking for a man with good Bible knowledge, with considerable maturity in preaching and teaching, someone who can contend for the faith without being contentious. We are looking for someone with zero curiosity about the sinful side of life. We need a man who isn’t ashamed of the gospel or of the Lord’s church. We don’t need someone who grew up in the church and is mad about it. We are looking for a man who won’t be neglectful of any portion of the truth, even the truth concerning divorce and re-marriage (imagine dealing with that subject in prison), even the topic of instrumental music, and I mention these subjects because some prison ministers from our fellowship have bailed out on their responsibilities to deal with these issues. We need someone who can get past an inmate’s history, and bring him to Christ where his sins can be forgiven so that his history will be rendered irrelevant before God. We need someone who will not wilt in the face of opposition and who is familiar with denominational error. We need a man with a stable family, preferably one with older children, perhaps even with children who are grown or nearly so. We need man who knows that profanity is commonplace in prisons, but who would never dream of using it himself. Judgment, patience and a positive mindset are all essential. A man must be willing to be in submission to authority, and the lowliest corrections officer has authority inside the prison wire. Our representative on the prison yards must think before he speaks, and pray before he acts. We are looking for a man intent on doing all the good he can do, and no harm at all. That’s all we need!! And collectively we know a lot of people! Someone out there is looking for this work; we just need to do all we can to find him.” Interested, contact 918 272-1564 and leave your phone number.
