About: There is currently a youth and family life minister employed who will work with the new candidate to transition them into the position. Camp is a big part of the culture for this congregation, so be sure you enjoy spending time at camp!

Primary Responsibilities: Summary: Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is searching for a Youth and Family Minister. The ideal candidate will be passionate about discipling students in the way of Jesus, helping them mature in the faith, and extending Christ’s love to the surrounding community. This role is team-focused. The Youth and Family Minister will work closely with parents, staff, and volunteers to move young people closer to Jesus. He will also collaborate with the church’s eldership, incorporating their shared vision into his responsibilities. Responsibilities: Lead a Youth Leadership Team. Recruit and train student ministry volunteers. In coordination with the Youth Leadership Team, develop and implement a comprehensive youth ministry program (Middle and High school students) Develop a spiritual vision for each youth participant Develop and implement family discipleship methodologies - be a resource to families. Oversight of Children’s ministry Assure Youth ministry connected to body (no stovepipe/silo) Teaching and preaching the Word of God in a way that is engaging and relevant to young people. Lead and facilitate weekly youth group meetings, Bible studies, and other spiritual activities Participate in Midwest Bible Camp Plan and organize larger activities for youth, such as retreats, or camps Plan and organize opportunities for the students to serve the church body and local community Promote opportunities for youth to server in missions Provide spiritual guidance and mentorship to youth in the church body Offer Christian counseling and support to youth facing personal challenges or crises Various administrative and other tasks needed to keep ministry running Character, Experience, & Knowledge: Prayer to and dependance on God, a growing and active relationship with the Father Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ Strong understanding of Christian teachings and principles Able to teach and preach A Bachelor's degree in a related field (bible, theology, Christian education, etc.) is preferred Demonstrates the Fruit of the Spirit at home, work, and in community Able to connect with others on a personal level Strong organizational skills for event planning and coordination Ability to disciple those in the congregation and the community Ability to work collaboratively with other staff members and volunteers Maintain a shared work calendar reflective of activities, responsibilities, and priorities Additional Capabilities Required: Comfortable with computer and software Must have a valid driver's license. Must be able to cope with a number of varied and pressing priorities at any given time. Reports To: Eldership Hours Per Week: Full Time (40 hours) Hybrid Work Environment (office, home, beyond), generally Sunday through Thursday Willing and able to flex hours due to both personal/family and ministry needs/demands Paid Time Off, Sick Days
