Finding the Energy Sometimes we don’t want to admit it or even talk about it. We would like for everybody to think we’ve got it all together, or we don’t want to appear weak, or we might believe that it makes us lesser men/preachers. So, I’ll go ahead and put it out there for many of us. Sunday can wear you out. It can be emotionally and physically draining. It can make you wonder how you are going to have the energy to get through the week. At the same time, those of us who attempt to preach and have the heart for ministering to others, live with the realization that we need to be able to sustain a healthy energy level. Brothers, for us to do the work we are commissioned to do requires a lot of energy. And, at times we will need to reach deep into the reservoir to grab a little extra. May I share with you a few suggestions that might be of help. I’m sure I didn’t come up with these on my own, but they have been helpful at various times through the years in ministry. (1) Don’t expect that we will always have the same energy level. As stated above, we will need different amounts of energy at different times. (2) Don’t try to do what you can’t do - know your limits, and let God be God! Reach out to others who can help. Remember that God doesn’t expect us to do everything. (3) Keep yourself sharp through prayer & study. (4) Spend time with people who help you restore your energy. This time could include, other preachers who have an understanding of what you are going through as well as family & friends who encourage you & bring joy to your life. May God bless you with an energy-filled week in His Work! TJINovember 13, 20162 Comments Facebook0 Twitter LinkedIn0 Reddit Tumblr 0 Likes
