Writer's Block
We hope this 4R will relax, refresh, reboot and reset you - that you will be encouraged after your consider it and that your burden as a preacher will be lighter.
For a writer it’s a horrid thing. It takes the very thing that makes them what they are away from them. It seems to be self-perpetuating and the more one focuses on it the worse it gets. I know, I’ve been there. I’ve been in those moments when I can’t pound on the keys fast enough to get all my flowing thoughts out, as well as those times I want to just pound on the keyboard in frustration.
For a preacher it’d be called Preacher’s Block. It takes the very thing that makes you a preacher away from you. You’ve been there. Not sure what to preach or what to preach about what you determine to preach about. And while a writer may put it off or ask for an extension - Sunday is coming! In fact the next one is less than a week away!
May I suggest a simple solution? Pray, step back from the stress, start reading the Bible for the thrill of reading the Bible, interact with others, do something for another just because you are a Christian. Breath. Relax. Rest in the blessings of God and count them. Stop letting preaching push you and live the life it calls for drinking deeply from the Word. You be God’s man - He will thereby make you His preacher. Enjoy this day in Him.
