An Easy Work
You’ve got a hard work. I understand.
There are distractions within and from without. There are culturally distractions - the media who seem to only report the bad side of religion, social media where the crank with a following can distort our beliefs, engaging television that can distract from our listeners focus on the Word. There are congregational distractions - the misbehaving child, the immodestly attired female, the baggage of past preachers drama, the weak leaders example that drowns out your words or the sinful leader who chokes out your spirit. There are character distractions - your own inadequacies, personal struggles with temptations and sin, weariness, the distraction of frustrations. It’s a hard work.
We’ve been in “the scoop business” for over 20 years now and while there is certainly a human element that pushes most all of us toward the easy, convenient, or comfortable - we all need to accept this simple reality. There is no such thing as an easy work. Yes, the grass will often look greener elsewhere but be assured there are people and challenges there too. We are in a battle that is against the spiritual forces of evil and “he” is not going to give up, ease up, retire, or retreat for long. We know, it’s a hard work. You can rest someday but not yet. We don't know what you encountered as you ministered today or what you will face in the week to come. But hang in there, we fight an evil villain but we have a Family beyond compare, fellow-ministers who understand our struggle, A God who has promised to never forsake us, a Savior who goes before us, and a Wonderful Helper who stand beside us.
