Monday's Come Too
Have you ever noticed that Mondays come in all shapes and sizes? I bet you have.
There’s the good tired Monday. You preached your best, you worked hard, you ministers, answered questions, greeted everyone, remembered names, participated in meetings, the crowd was good and the spirit was better. It’s Monday, you’re worn out, praise God for Monday!
Then there’s the rainy Monday. And you didn’t. Your sermon won’t even make it back in the file cabinet (for you younger guys, that’s a big rectangular box where we used to keep our sermons). You didn’t hit a home-run, you couldn’t even get a bunt to get on First. You felt like you heard whispers. You were unconfident. You were paranoid. You felt like you stepped on your own tongue. You called the guy visiting with his girlfriend by her previous boyfriends name. You argued instead of answering. You said too much, to the point that is seemed almost like gossip. The numbers were off and those there seemed to care less. You felt like you were running through molasses. It’s Monday and that may not be rain, it may be tears. It’s Monday, and you need to recover, praise God for Monday!
There’s the Monday that’s best described as blah. Nobodies going to remember a thing you said. You can’t even remember what you said! It wasn’t bad, but it was far from good. You’re feeling “under!” Underused, undervalued, under-appreciated. And, you’re second guessing yourself: Your series, your ability, your effectiveness, even your decision to preach. You remember their names, but you doubt they’ll ever remember your’s. It’s Monday and time to recommit to the God of Second-Chances, praise God for Monday!
There’s also the Monday when the clouds are breaking. You woke up early. A dream on your heart. You opened the computer and started to dream in words. You can’t type fast enough o keep up with your own thoughts. You’re planning, you’re praying, you’re convinced everything, every thing is going to be better. You love this Monday with all it’s hope, full of vim and vigor. It’s Monday and you’re ready to run, praise God for Monday!
Yes, Mondays come in all shapes and sized. Praise God for Mondays!
