Jesus Love Me, This I Know

There will be those days that we wonder if what we are doing matters, if it makes any difference in the lives of people, and if it is pleasing to the Lord.

In our darker moments we will wonder if anybody cares about us, if anybody loves us, and we might even wonder if the Lord loves us.

These moments can come in a multiplicity of ways. It might be that someone mistreats us or someone in our family. It might be that no one gives us any positive feedback about our sermons or our work. It could be that the elders are on us because they don’t feel we are doing our best or because the church doesn’t seem to be growing.

All of this could cause us to question God’s love for us. We know it intellectually, in our heads, but we wonder in our heart.

We know that the Scriptures teach us that God loves the whole world (John 3:16), and that He even loves in spite of our sin (Romans 5:8). If we can just get our hearts to understand what we know is true. May I remind you, my dear brothers, that regardless of what you are dealing with in your life, Jesus love you, and of this you can be certain.

Jesus loves us when we feel all alone.

Jesus loves us when we feel defeated.

Jesus loves us when we are weak.

Jesus loves us when our preaching isn’t at its best.

Jesus loves us when other mistreat us.

Jesus loves us even when we fall.

Jesus loves us when we are tried and worn down.

Jesus loves us when we feel forsaken by those closest to us.

Jesus loves us when we wonder if we can keep going in ministry.

It is the greatest Truth that has ever been proclaimed. It is the greatest Truth we can ever share with others. It is the greatest Truth we can ever believe. Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so.
