Great, Good, Grow
Properly balanced people are able to honestly assess themselves. They are able to see their weaknesses without collapsing into despair and depression. They are able to see their strengths without becoming narcissistic or boastful. They are able to accept criticism and acknowledge the need to change or discard it as just a critic. If you can find this balance you’ll continue to improve throughout your ministry. Here is a good way to self-assess, some of you may know it, to others it will be new as it was to me.
Great, Good, Grow. As you consider various aspects of your preaching and ministering evaluate yourself. If you find an area where you are doing really well. Great. Celebrate it. Continue to do it well, you’ll bless others in that aspect of your work. If you are finding an area where you give yourself a “good” score, very good. Focus on how to improve but don’t be overly harsh to yourself, no one walking this planet to is great at everything. And when you find an area where you see the need to grow. Do it. Keep growing throughout life. If all of your scores are “great” perhaps you need to step back and find you a bowl of humble soup. If they are all “grow” maybe stop being so hard yourself.
I have found that one of the real ways to not quit is to keep growing. You’ll get better, you’ll bless more people, you’ll find more time to do more in the Kingdom. God bless you as He perfects you.
