Some Days...Not So Much

Some days are Red Letter Days, Banner Days, days filled with much good. Other days, not so much. The good days can happen after a successful event, when you’ve seen close friends or family (like grandchildren), when you’ve had a great crowd for worship, when you feel like the sermon connected, and everybody is in good spirits.

The “not so much days,” can happen when an event hasn’t gone so well, when a lot of people are missing from the assembly, when people don’t seem to be in a good place, when your sermon feels like it didn’t connect, or when you wonder if your work is effective.

One of the lessons that I’ve personally learned through the years is that it can be dangerous to put too much stock in either of these types of days. Life is filled with mountaintop moments and also deep valleys. We seem to struggle the most when we place too much emphasis either on great days or challenging days.

We seem to do our best, and we are able to navigate life better when we remain balanced through whatever life hands us. That’s only part of it.

As well, everything is so much better and more enjoyable when we trust God through the Red Letter Days or the “not so much days.”

Thank you, dear brothers, for your balanced life, for your resolve, for your commitment, for your steadfastness in the good times as well as those that may not be so good.

May God bless you in everything you do for Him this week. May He strengthen you through His power, His Word, and His people. My prayer is that there will be many Red Letter Days in your life as you continue to serve the King!
