Don't Quit

We were in Cambodia, our trip had taken every bit of 24 hours from Dallas to there. In the back seat of a mini van John extolled us and entertained two weary travelers. We talked about a few hundred things it seems on that hour plus drive from the airport to where we were to lay our weary bones for a few hours of rest and a quick shower before our work began. At one point the conversation drifted to preaching and quitting. Our gracious host said: “My advice is always, ‘Don’t quit on a blue day.’ If you quit on a blue day it will always be easy to quit and it’ll look like you are running away. But, if you work through that rough patch, and later leave, it’ll have been worth it to have worked through a problem.”

We’ve got, “Don’t Quit on a Monday,” “Don’t Quit on a Tuesday,” “Don’t Quit on a Wednesday,” “Don’t Quit on a Thursday,” “Don’t Quit on a Friday,” “Don’t Quit on a Saturday,” “Don’t Quit on a Sunday,” and, “Don’t Quit on a weekend,” over 500 of these little bits but our friend, John, in the back of a minivan, in Cambodia, around midnight nailed it. We all have “blue days.” And it is always easier to quit on one of them. Hang in there even then, and the end result will always be worth it. 

Now Jesus was telling the disciples a parable to make the point that at all times they ought to pray and not give up and lose heart - Luke 18:1, AMP
