Beginning as early as back in my high school days up until now, I have always been terrible at meeting deadlines. It’s one of the many weaknesses in my lift. I vividly remember staying up all night during college to finish a paper or project due the next day. More often than not, I file an extension for more time to complete my taxes. My brother is always having to remind me about a project that is due. Right now, I’m working on a couple of chapters for books that are due. And, a case in point is the fact that this article is five days late!!
There are many excuses that could be offered, none of which are very good. I will just say that I’m very conscious of this and trying to get better. I long for the day, that we will never have to worry about another deadline, project, or job; a day when time doesn’t matter.
There are weaknesses that we all have in our lives as preachers that could cause us to quit, to throw in the towel, to give up on ourselves. I don’t know what it is in your life, but maybe we can encourage one another to remain strong, to persevere, and to keep going until He comes.
“Let’s not become discouraged in doing good, for in due time we will reap, if we do not become weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let’s do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.” (Galatians 6:9-10)
“We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.” (John 9:4)
“…whatever you do, do all things for the glory of God.” (1 Corinthians 10:31)
