Delightful & Correct

We live in a world where the notion of being correct is often eschewed. When wise King Solomon began his extensive search for meaning in life, he began by saying that all is futility. After he completed his search “under the sun,” he concluded that “all is futility” unless you find the Shepherd. The Preacher sought to find delightful words and to write words of truth correctly.

That last statement is a beautiful description of the work you do every week. It is the happy combination that makes our work and our lives meaningful. In the middle of problems, concerns, issues, messed up relationships, working too much, not resting enough, illness, and isolation, we want to do our best to write and speak words that are delightful and correct.

The souls of the people that God has entrusted to us desperately need to hear words that are delightful and correct. This passage sounds somewhat like Paul in Ephesians 4 when he says we are to preach the truth in love. It is easy to get caught up in the cares of this world and forget the importance of this admonition.

When the burdens of this life weigh us down, it will help us to cast all our cares on the One who cares for us. When we are being mistreated, it is easy for us to want to harm those who would do harm to us. Our Savior would not retaliate when others persecuted Him (1 Peter 2:21-23).

He would always and forever speak words that were delightful and correct. May we follow in His steps and speak only words that are delightful and correct, even when others do not. May God bless you in all you do for Him this week. We love you all.
