Happy New Scoops
So Melanie and I spent New Year's Eve this year helping our son Andrew and his wife Kadee get moved in to their new work in Spanish Fort, Alabama. He was doubly blessed in his work at Zion Rest in getting to work with the good church (and their preacher, Tony Brown) as well as finding a Christian wife there. So we were just outside of Mobile and went in to watch the giant Moon Pie Drop! To say the least it was an experience we'll never forget.
On to the scoops! And there are some big ones this week:
Russ King scoops himself. He has been at Rural Hill in Nashville for 16 years. He is leaving there "cause moma called him home" to quote the Bear (Oh, I'm feeling good, got to mention one of my sons and the Bear in the same post), to return to the congregation where he and his wife grew up, were baptized, and married....the Donelson Church of Christ. He will be their Minister of Church Life. This means Rural Hill will be open - http://www.ruralhill.org/
Bryan McAlister gets this big scoop. I was having lunch yesterday when he let me know that Steve Blackman was leaving Bellevue where he has served for about a little over eight years. He is going to work with the Heritage congregation in Franklin who will be moving into a new building soon. Bellevue has a relatively short but rich history. David Paher gets the big scoop on himself. He will be moving to work with the church in Swartz Creek, Michigan. This means the work he has been involved with in Andalusia is open. He will be moving from Cedar Grove around Feb. 1 and says the following: "I am leaving Cedar Grove as their pulpit minister at the end of January. We are parting on very good terms. Cedar Grove is currently averaging around 170-180 members. They are served by 5 elders, 6 deacons, several ministry leaders, many Bible class teachers and a part-time secretary. They have a daily ten-minute radio program Faith for Today, a growing evangelism effort and participate in Lads to Leaders. They provide a 4 bedroom, 3 bath 2000 sq ft parsonage located adjacent to the church building. The next preacher would likely help Cedar Grove celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2016. Andalusia is located in lower Alabama in the Deep South where hearts are warm and temperatures are too. The schools are great academically and morally, the community is family-oriented, and the taxes are low." www.cedargrovecoc.org
Gary Hampton is so good to help keep us posted of openings. This week he gets the following scoop: The church in Colleyville, TX is looking for a full-time preacher. It is a congregation of about 80-100 with no elders. It is a growing church. A little over 3 years ago they were only 27 in number. They can pay approximately $45-50,000 per year. They want a man of at least 5 years experience. Resumes should be sent to davidwhamrick@yahoo.com or call 817-528-4929.
