Scoops AND more

I rarely ask this of you but can you bear with me a bit as I talk to you about something other than Scoops on this site? Two short things: 1. At The Jenkins Institute today we are launching something that we have been told is very needed. I imagine there are plenty of others who would do much better than we can at this and maybe our effort will spark someone to do it better.  There seems to be a great need for leadership training and elder type resources. So we are launching The Jenkins Institute - God's Leaders: Leading with Love.  It will be a site that will hopefully become a "go t0" place online for leaders and potential leaders in the church. We hope to provide encouragement, articles, links, ideas and training tools for leaders in the Lord's church.  Like Hope & Expectation we will feature a theme each month with  both Featured and Invited Writers.  There will also be 6 primary areas of significance: Communication, Shepherding, Personal Growth, Working With Deacons, Working with Staff and Church Problems.  For this to work we need two things - excellent content AND names of elders. If you have ever thought - I wish my elders had somewhere to go to learn, to be challenged, to get ideas - PLEASE send us a list of your elders email addresses and names. 2. If you follow stuff I talk about much you’ll know I am “in whole hog” for Heritage Christian University. I love it’s singleminded purpose, the fact that it is now training such a large proportion of the preachers in our fellowship, it’s great slate of teachers and dedicated and friendly staff.  But I am especially excited about an event coming up October 14-16.  This year, Elevate, their annual spiritual workshop is focusing on Sexuality and Spirituality.  While you might blush (I still do) at even the thought of that topic being discussed in public - the fact is the world is shoving this in the face of Christians and non-Christians and using satan’s agenda to talk about it. And we, as Christians need a biblical, godly and sane approach to such.

There are some heavy duty speakers who will do an outstanding job with this.  Two big things that will be going on at night are a marriage enrichment seminar and a parent teen enrichment seminar. There will be side tracks on evangelism and church growth.  I hope you’ll look at the full schedule HERE and that you will help me get word out about this.
