Keep Your Eyes on HIM

Life in ministry can be overwhelming at times. Sometimes we get overwhelmed by the chaos of the world. We may listen to the whispers of Satan as he lures us to sin and selfishness. Sometimes our “to-do” list is completely overwhelming! Other times, critism and negativity in ministry leave us distracted and discouraged. Struggles, obligations, and other distractions can leave us feeling exhausted and even defeated. All of this can keep us from “fixing our eyes on Jesus” (Hebrews 12:2).

Paul writes these encouraging words to the Corinthians; “So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4:16-18).

When we get overwhelmed by the troubles and distractions here on earth, we have to pause and shift our focus back to the unseen, eternal things. We have to fix our eyes on Jesus. We know this takes effort and intentionality. The here and now can get crazy and overwhelming, causing us to lose perspective. Paul reminds us that an eternal glory awaits us, glory that is beyond all comparison to the struggles of this life. So when busy schedules, criticism, obligations, and the ways of the world are overwhelming, remember to focus on the eternal things. Keep humbly serving those around you, showing them the love of Jesus, remembering the eternal glory that awaits! Don’t lose heart!

In Him,
