Distractions

Dear Loving Father in Heaven, We approach Your throne during a season of chaos and confusion. There are so many distractions in our world right now that it can be easy for those who preach to lose focus. We are distracted by political debates, church discussions, and family deliberations. We are distracted by war in the Middle East and war in the middle of our hearts. We are distracted by “good” works so often that we can’t focus on Your Good Word. It is easy for these distractions to cause us to be physically and emotionally drained. We can be distracted by discouragement, despair, despondency, and even boredom.

Dear God, we pray that You will bless Your Preachers on Sunday so that we will not be distracted and that we will not be a distraction. Help us focus our hearts and minds on the task at hand. Please help us, Father, to focus on preaching so that the Word will have access to the hearts and minds of those who gather. Thank you, Father, for the opportunity to help provide a place of solace for a few minutes on Sunday so distracted people, including ourselves, can be lost in Your beauty and glory. In Jesus Name we Pray, Amen.
