Duties include preaching, Bible class teaching, visiting the sick, community outreach. Working with the elders, deacons, to develop a vision for the year will be key. MA: Pittsfield is the county seat of Berkshire County with 130,000+ residents. This will be virtually a “start from scratch” opportunity, as there are only 2 families who live there who are members of the church. Both of these families are well-grounded in the Faith; both are eager to begin the congregation. At the present time, they do not have all of the needed salary secured. CT: The Church of Christ in New Milford desires to establish a new congregation in the New England city of Danbury. This will be a PORTUGUESE/SPANISH CONGREGATION with Danbury and nearby New York State being the center for the largest population of immigrants from Ecuador in the United States. No church exists at the present time to bring the gospel to these people. A faithful gospel preacher who is acquainted with the Ecuadorian culture, and who speaks Spanish is being sought to plant this new church “from scratch.” There are multiple thousands of immigrants in this area. The Church of Christ in New Milford, Connecticut is taking on the challenge to plant this new congregation. They are engaged in raising funds for the preacher’s salary. VA: The Southside Church in Winchester is seeking a minister. Southside is 75 miles from Washington DC and averages around 80-90 in weekly attendance, including a Spanish-speaking congregation. They have 2 elders and 5 deacons. There is a very active senior group as well as a growing elementary age and teen group. The church has an annual VBS and participates in Leadership Training for Christ. They “seek a dynamic and engaging public speaker well-equipped to preach, teach, evangelize, and facilitate discipleship.” They are wanting to be more involved with their community. They have said: “It is imperative that we find someone who is able to build relationships across a broad spectrum.” Requirements include: A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or equivalent degree from a preaching school. An ideal candidate is one who not only excels in preaching but also has a heart for personal evangelism and community outreach. LA/OK: Chase Green has accepted the preaching position in Marietta, Oklahoma. This means that the Beacon congregation in West Monroe, LA is looking for their next full-time minister. Chase is leaving on good terms. Beacon is a small congregation of about 50 members. They have two elders. They have a 24/7 GBN radio station that broadcasts 24/7 from their own low power radio station at the church building. This radio station broadcasts both local programming and programming from the Gospel Broadcasting Network. Beacon also actively supports a missionary in Panama, the Gospel of Christ television program, and has recently begun mailing out House to House, Heart to Heart. Beacon is seeking a doctrinally sound preacher who works well with people and will encourage this congregation to keep the faith and help evangelize the community.
