A SERMON SYMPOSIUM: We’ve been ask to help you know about the “Sermon Symposium” that the Lewisville church is hosting with Ralph Gilmore and Bruce McLarty, Va SIBI Graduate School. It will be June 15 - 17, 2023. The design of the symposium is to provide encouragement and tools for ministers and Bible class teachers. SONG BOOKS: Darrell Allen the minister for the Sylvester Church of Christ in Georgia has about 110 copies of a songbook: Sacred Songs of the Church, produced by William D. Jeffcoat & published by Psallo Publications (2007). All of them are "regal blue" and in Like New, Excellent, or Very Good condition. They are a small congregation (about 25 Sunday AM attendance) with very limited resources and would like to be a blessing to others while also helping the work at Sylvester. They are looking to supply these to a congregation for $5/book, plus shipping. If the reciever is within a 3-hour driving distance one-way, Darrell will be glad to deliver the books. AL: The Mars Hill Church in Florence is seeking a full-time pulpit minister. They are served by three elders and five deacons, and a youth and family minister. They currently have around 70-80 in regular attendance. The current minister is leaving on good terms after 11 years to pursue another ministry opportunity. It is expected that the minister is Biblically centered in focus and doctrine. The primary responsibility of the minister is to proclaim the good news of Jesus Christ. Other responsibilities include: Ministering to the congregation. Visitation of sick and shut-in. Leading various programs. Conducting outreach and evangelizing the lost. Aid in the strengthening and growth of the congregation. Assist with the planning and organization of worship services, lead and or assist withspecial events and outreach. Comfortable using technology in sermons and lessons. Provide bible-based counseling as needed.
SC/TN: This week’s first Scoop os a self-scoop. Michael Rowland is leaving the Golden Strip church in the Charleston area to preach for the Westwood church in McMinnville. We hope to have more on Golden Strip later.
TX: The Keller church is currently looking for a pulpit minister. This man will be responsible for proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ by teaching and preaching to the Keller congregation and the people of the community. Keller is a growing suburb 15 miles north of Fort Worth. The congregation averages roughly 350 individuals on a Sunday morning and includes a thriving youth group, a flourishing group of young families, and a very active seniors ministry. The pulpit minister will serve alongside an existing youth minister and an outreach minister and will ideally have at least 15 years of ministry experience. MS: The New Albany Church of Christ is searching for a full-time youth and family minister. The congregation has large and active youth, college, and young adult groups. The elders are searching for someone who can work directly with the youth group and assist the deacons with college and young adult/family ministries. TN: The McEwen church is looking for a pulpit minister. McEwen is a loving and caring congregation striving to be disciples of Christ and to spread the gospel to all nations. They average around 180 each Sunday with a mix of young and old. They have a strong youth group with a full-time youth minister. Pay will be very competitive with congregations their size. Housing is also available. A bachelor's degree in Bible is preferred but not a must. Some office hours and visitation will be required. AL: Terry Broome is retiring from full-time ministry after 55 years. He has been a caring and impactful minister. For the last 21 years he has been the minister of thr Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro. I think 55 years leaves him some space here for his own comments: “Lord willing, April 30 will mark my farewell sermon from full time ministry. The journey began almost 55 years ago full time, preceded by 3 years of part time appointments. April 30 also marks the end of my 21 years to the date as minister at Broad Street Church of Christ in Scottsboro, AL. I love these brethren, and brethren from the 5 congregations where I ministered full time over the years: Nicoma Park-Oklahoma City; East Okmulgee Church - Muskogee, OK (which merged with Central Avenue to form the East Central Church of Christ in Muskogee while I was there. Years later that congregation became Chandler Rd. Church in Muskogee); Forrest Park Church in Valdosta, GA; Florence Blvd congregation in Florence, AL; and Broad Street in Scottsboro, AL. I’m Retiring from full time local ministry, but I’m not retiring from preaching. I hope to be useful in God’s Kingdom for many more years. AL/FL: After more than 16 years as pulpit minister of the Elba Church (and 5 1/2 years at the Niceville Church of Christ in Niceville Florida), Philip Box has stepped down to work full-time with Corporate Chaplains Of America and will be filling the church relations role for Mount Dora Children’s home located in Mount Dora Florida. AL: The above post leaves the Elba Church looking for a new preacher. Elba is a city of just over 4000 in the south east corner of Alabama (the Wiregrass). “The Elba congregation is known in the community as a leader in caring for people. This church is proactive, and definitely thinks outside of the box. They host the Elba Community Food Bank, participate in the Giving Garden (a community garden, where everything that is grown is given away at the food bank), have multiple vans/buses, have a deaf ministry, and are completely debt-free with room to grow.” Elba has two elders, and three deacons, who are all very active. The previous minister, after several years, departed with our blessing to pursue a larger ministry opportunity. The Central minister will be Biblically centered in focus and doctrine. MI: The church of Christ in Menominee (one hour north of Green Bay) is looking for a mission-minded preacher. Locatedi n the pristine Upper Peninsula, Menominee lies ont h eshore of beautiful Lake Michigan. This is a mission field environment with the nearest congregations an hour to the north or south. “We need help! Our present preacher - a retired couple has a desire to go into full retirement. The Church has been here for 50 years and has grown to 40 plus and shrunk with the economic and family/children flucuations and recently Covid. We are a family of 14 committed Christians who can supply partial salary support, but are hoping to find someone who can bring additional support, or who would be willing to find some secular work in the community. The Southside Church of Christ in Milwaukee is providing some financial support, but we pray for sponsoring congregations and or members that would help financially support this work as well.
The church is debt-free with a main building for worship and fellowship, and another building with three large classrooms. It is located on a property with a large yard for outdoor gatherings, VBS activities, and teen get-togethers.
Menominee is an outdoor-lovers paradise with abundant opportunities forhunting, fishing, boating, kayaking, camping, hiking, and biking. There are eight beautiful parks in the twin cities area and five clean sandy beaches within the city limits. The summer temperatures are extremely
comfortable - it is warm enough to enjoy the outdoors all day long, but minimal need for air conditioning. Housing in this area is a great value and there is a strong public school system. The Marinette/Menominee area has two community colleges - UW-Marinette and Northeast WI Technical College. There is also a new hospital and several large industries in the area. Fulshear is a ten year old church plant that has recently built a building in the rapidly growing city of Fulshear west of Houston. This leaves the pulpit open at the Webb Chapel Church of Christ in Dallas. Paul is leaving on good terms. CO: The Estes Park church is looking for a full-time minister. Estes Park is the base camp for amazing adventures in Rocky Mountain National Park. It is located 90 minutes from Denver at the eastern entrance to the National Park and lies along the Big Thompson River. Estes Park is Colorado’s quintessential mountain town and one of the most beautiful places in Colorado. The town population was 5904 at the 2020 US Census. They want a minister who will partner with them to show Jesus to this community. They are a friendly, mission-minded, Bible focused congregation of about 25 members, (largely senior) looking to grow spiritually and numerically. Besides the local outreach, they consider it part of their mission to minister to some of the 4 million visitors who annually visit Rocky Mountain National Park, many of whom are members of the Lord’s church and attend the services while on vacation. Applicants should have formal Bible Training (graduate of School of Preaching or school affiliated with the church of Christ who will deliver effective sermons through appropriate research and study of God’s Word. Ministerial experience (4 years minimum). A preaching minister without a degree who has had successful ministry experience would be considered. Experience with church growth would also be helpful, as they would especially like to connect with young families in our area, and need creative ways to do so. Potential candidates should also be in good standing with his own immediate family.
