It's Monday, But Sunday's A 'Comin

Yesterday was Sunday. We preached, we taught, we welcomed, we attended meetings, we loved, we prayed, we laughed, we cried, we hurt, we put out fires, we worshipped, we got home late, and we collapsed. Yesterday was Sunday.

Today is Monday. Today we will catch up on emails, calls, and visits. Today, all of us who preach will wonder if we used the right words, spoke with love in our hearts, properly encouraged, and made a difference in the lives of our people yesterday. Today, some of us will work on Church programs, meet with members who are hurting,

Today we will begin to attempt to put something back into the well.  Some of us will take some time off and spend it with our wife or family. If you choose to do that, enjoy your day. Renew, Refresh, Reboot, Reset.

Today some preacher will preach a funeral for dear member or friend. Today some preacher will think seriously about his future. Today some preacher will pray fervently for his child who has walked away from the Lord. Today some preacher will be concerned about his finances. Today some preacher will comfort and encourage his wife who is struggling with loneliness, depression, or the empty feeling of not being close to family.

Today we will all thank God for adopting us into His Family. We will thank Him for allowing us, even with our weaknesses, to proclaim the unsearchable riches of Christ! We will thank Him for our family, our health, the roof over our head, and the food on our table.

Regardless of what we do today, we will all be thinking about Sunday. A preacher told me many years ago that every Sunday night as he makes his way home he thinks, “We do this all again in seven days!” It’s Monday, but let’s rejoice ‘cause Sunday’s A ‘Comin!
