Just One More

While visiting with a friend recently who retired from working in the oil and gas industry, he was telling me about his work. As a part of his work, he was assigned the duty of giving motivational speeches to executives in this industry. He said that he ended every speech in the same way.

After discussing ways these executives could better themselves in the work they were doing, he would conclude with these words. “Now go out there, and sell one more gallon of gas!” What a tremendous challenge; simple and to the point. It was a statement that every oil executive could easily understand.

As we go about our work this week that is much more important and valuable than the oil business let’s consider those words; “Just one more!” Let’s apply this to our life as men who are about our Father’s Business.

Spend just one more hour with your wife and children.

Reach out to just one more person who isn’t a part of the Family of God.

Pray for just one more opportunity to allow the light of Jesus to shine before men.

Study those lessons, just one more time.

Take just one more minute to assist someone who is in need.

Create just one more opportunity for your members to serve in the community.

Just one more time encourage the men who serve as shepherds where you preach.

Learn one more lesson from an older, wiser fellow preacher who has served in the trenches for many years and experienced the struggles of life.

Contact some younger preacher just one more time, who needs a word of encouragement and possibly some advice from a person who cares about them.

Just one more time offer a word of hope to everyone you see.

Now, after working on this, do it all again, just one more time, and have a great week!
